The Korhogo Fabric / Canvas is originary from the Korhogo Region, located in the Northern Ivory Coast, in Senufo Territory. The Region is famous for the making of its Masks and its Fabrics. Korhogo is the fourth largest city in the Ivory Coast, in terms of population and economy, 635km separating it from Abidjan; Korhogo is the capital of the Savannah District and the Poro region.
To obtain the colors, the painter creates natural pigments, coming from minerals or plants. The black color comes in contrast to the ecru background of the canvas and thus makes it possible to make the strokes of the shapes and other details.
The designs of Korhogo Canvases represent traditional cultural symbols of the Senoufo. These are often represented by animals, huts, or anthropomorphic figures, with human appearance, and dressed with traditional Senufo costumes.
As I was living in Ivory Coast, long time ago, I keeped in my memories this beautiful African Art, and I loved creating this design, with the Senoufo Figures🧡
